Here are the microwave problems we see most often, what usually causes them and how our technicians repair them.
Common causes: A failed magnetron, high-voltage diode, high-voltage capacitor or transformer, or a blown high-voltage fuse.
How we fix it: We safely discharge and test the high-voltage system and replace the failed component.
Common causes: A blown main fuse, failed door switch, tripped thermal cutoff or faulty control board.
How we fix it: We test fuses, door interlocks and controls — and find out why a fuse blew.
Common causes: A failed turntable motor, broken drive coupler or a roller guide that's out of place.
How we fix it: We replace the turntable motor or coupler.
Common causes: A damaged or dirty waveguide cover, metal in the microwave, or damaged interior paint. Stop using it right away.
How we fix it: We replace the waveguide cover and inspect the cavity for damage.
Common causes: A broken door latch, hook or door switch. Door switches are safety interlocks that stop the microwave from running.
How we fix it: We replace latches and door switches to restore safe operation.
Common causes: A failed membrane keypad, control lock turned on, or a faulty control board.
How we fix it: We test the keypad and board and replace the failed part.
Common causes: A failed vent fan motor, burned-out bulbs, faulty light socket or a control board relay.
How we fix it: We repair the fan, lighting and controls.
